ADVENTUROUS GOTLAND

On dry land
Move around at high speed on a motorbike, at a leisurely rate on horseback or at your own pace on foot. Maybe you don’t want to move around at all, but stay in one place, burying yourself in the life of the Vikings, under the ground or in a house full of mysteries.

Caving adventure
There are cave visits and there are caving adventures. If you are brave in the dark and like confined spaces, you must go for the latter. Then it’s a matter of wading, crawling and sometimes taking a boat to help you into the part of the Lummelundagrottan cave, which looks exactly as nature made it. Solve mysteries with all the family
In spring 2007 Boda Borg Visby will be opening. Boda Borg is an adventure house that demands physical exertion, intellectual sharpness and creativity. Boda Borg Visby is located in the parish of Follingbo some kilometres east of Visby in an old hospital located high up with a striking view over the landscape.

Games for young and old
Who said you have to have golf balls for golf? At Mix Ranch in Stenkyrka you can try out football golf, which is precisely what it says. Golf with footballs! Or why not challenge your mates and colleagues in the pentathlon with events like axe throwing, four-wheeler driving and wagon building? Read more about Mix Ranch

By bike – with or without motor
The power beneath you is enormous, a slight touch on the throttle and the vehicle beneath you responds. There’s just you, barren countryside around you and the motorcycle. Gotland’s own Paris-Dakar rider arranges motorcycle safaris along the byways of Gotland.

If you prefer a quieter, more environmentally friendly alternative, go for a mountain bike. With one of these you can proceed along the forest tracks and paths, to beaches and along the abandoned rail road bed. Choose between hairy mountain bike adventure and ”Berra’s summer cycling”.

Hovleden
With living horsepower you can get a long way and see a Gotland that many people never penetrate. The Gotland bridle and cart track route, Hovleden, is nearly 500 kilometres long. Experience it on or behind the back of a horse. Hire a horse or bring your own with you.

Hovleden offers board and lodging for riders and coachmen with or without their own horse. Read more about Hovleden atwww.hovleden.se
Live like a Viking
The fragrance of grilled lamb blends with the smoke and the tar. Around you there wander (almost) genuine Vikings. Here you can bake bread, shoot a bow and arrow, make jewellery and much, much more. All in the fashion of Viking times, obviously. Vikingabyn in Tofta has constructed a typical 9th century village with long house, smithy, market stalls and craft house.
