Gotland has Sweden’s oldest regional tourist association – the Gotland Tourist Association, or GTA, was founded in 1896 to promote and act on behalf of the travel and tourist industry on Gotland. Some 300 companies associated with the Gotland visiting industry are members of the GTA, and their number is steadily increasing. The activities of the Association are financed by annual membership fees and municipal funding.
